Chang’s Hapkido Academy UK is a martial arts school teaching WolGeKwan style Hapkido. Our UK branch was founded in 1993 by head instructor Master Tammy Parlour. We teach daytime and evening classes at three venues in London - all classes are taught by our head instructor ensuring students receive quality and consistent instruction no matter which location or time they attend.

Classes are rigorous and have a traditional focus on mastering the basics as the foundation for developing advanced technique. Emphasis is placed on Ki and the philosophy of Hapkido as well as becoming physically skilled. Students work their way through a syllabus, each level requiring proficiency in self-defence techniques, hand and kicking skills and various movement patterns. Grandmaster Gedo Chang visits London three times per year, when students have the opportunity to test for their next belt/level.

As the head instructor of Chang’s Hapkido UK, I aim to create a climate that focuses on personal growth and improvement. I believe that we are all different, that everyone can develop and that making mistakes is a key part of learning.

All of us at Chang’s Hapkido strive to maintain a learning atmosphere which welcomes students who are diverse in terms of age, aptitude, career, experience, fitness levels etc. New people are always welcomed.

The only way to really understand our approach is to come and see it for yourself – just send me an email and let me know that you want to view a class.
