Laura Carter

Laura Carter is a highly experienced scientific leader in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at Character Biosciences since August 2023. Prior to this role, Carter held the position of Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of Research and Translational Biology at Gossamer Bio from March 2019 to September 2023. Additional experience includes serving as Senior Vice President of Biology at Lycera, Scientific Director at MedImmune, and Senior Group Leader at Array BioPharma. Laura Carter began her career as a Principal Scientist II at Wyeth Research, following postdoctoral fellowships at Washington University School of Medicine and the Trudeau Institute. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD in Molecular Pathology-Immunology from UC San Diego.
