Michael Karmon

Chief Information Security Officer at Chargeflow

Michael Karmon has a diverse work experience in the field of information security. Michael started their career at the Ministry of Justice as the CIO of the Israel Patent Office and Project Manager from September 2001 to July 2009. Michael then worked as a Software Project Leader and Systems Analyst at the Israel Ministry of Finance from June 2010 to August 2011.

Karmon then transitioned to the private sector and held multiple roles at Tehila, an information security company. Michael worked as an Information Security Analyst and later as an Information Security Officer from an unknown start date to February 2014. Michael also specialized in Information Security Standards, Qualifications, and Regulations during this time.

From February 2014 to July 2016, Karmon joined the First International Bank of Israel as an Information Security Auditor. Michael was responsible for promoting information security and cyber defense practices within the bank and conducted activities such as malware defense, penetration testing, and security and risk assessments.

Karmon then moved to the Israel Post Corporation, the largest retailer in Israel, where they served as the SoC and Threat Manager and Senior Cyber Security Architect from July 2016 to February 2019.

Afterwards, they joined Kimberly-Clark as a Global Cyber Product Analyst from February 2019 to April 2022. Michael led the implementation of the CIS Control framework globally and achieved nearly 200% overall maturity improvement in just two years.

Most recently, Karmon joined Chargeflow as the Chief Information Security Officer in April 2022. Overall, their work experience showcases a strong background in information security and a track record of implementing effective security measures in various organizations.

Michael Karmon has a diverse education history. Michael obtained a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) & Data Protection Officer (DPO) double majoring training for CISO integrated with DPO certification from Bar-Ilan University, where they studied from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, they earned an M.Sc in Technology Management from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, from 1998 to 2000. Their undergraduate education was also from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where they completed their B.Sc in Biology from 1990 to 1994.

In addition to their formal education, Michael Karmon holds several certifications. Michael is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA, which they obtained in April 2022. Michael also completed the "Implementing the NIST Risk Management Framework" certification from LinkedIn in January 2022. Other certifications include CISA from ISACA in October 2015, GIAC Critical Controls Certification (GCCC) from GIAC Certifications in July 2020, Certification in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) from ISACA in March 2021, CISSP from (ISC)² in April 2016, Venafi Security Administrator from Venafi in March 2019. Michael is also listed as having an ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certification and a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
