For more than 40 years, Charity Tax Group (CTG) has been the voice of the UK charity sector on tax. 

We champion a fair, modern tax system that enables charities to focus their resources where they matter most: delivering essential services, supporting vulnerable people and strengthening communities across the UK. 

Over our four‑decade history, our insight and advocacy have helped save good causes more than £10 billion in tax.

We speak for the sector at the highest levels, holding regular discussions with MPs, ministers and officials, contributing to HMRC’s Charity Tax Forum and technical working groups, and convening conversations on the tax challenges charities face. 

Alongside this policy work, we bring the sector together through a programme of events and conversations that connect charity leaders, tax specialists and policymakers. Our annual conference, seminars and member forums create a shared space for insight, collaboration and forward thinking across the voluntary and professional communities.

Through our focused technical work on Gift Aid and VAT, we help shape best practice and translate complex tax issues into clear, usable guidance. This is supported by our digital helpline and regular updates, ensuring members stay informed, confident and equipped to navigate emerging challenges in charity taxation.
