Jay Lauf

Jay Lauf has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades in the publishing and media industry. Jay is currently a Co-Founder at Charter, a position they have held since May 2021. Prior to this, Jay served as a Senior Advisor at Charter from October 2020 to April 2021. Jay was also a Senior Advisor at ScrollStack from March 2020 onwards. In 2021, they joined Enquire as a Senior Advisor.

Jay's notable roles include their tenure at Quartz, where they held multiple positions such as Advisor from January 2020 to December 2021, Chairman in October 2019, co-CEO from August 2018 to October 2019, President & Publisher from March 2014 to July 2018, and SVP, Publisher from September 2012 to March 2014.

Before Quartz, Jay served as the Publisher at The Atlantic from April 2008 to September 2012. Prior to that, they worked at WIRED, where they held roles such as Publisher from May 2006 to April 2008, Associate Publisher from June 2003 to May 2006, and National Advertising Director from April 2001 to June 2003.

Jay's earlier career includes working as an Ad Director at T3 from June 2000 to February 2001 and as the Group Publisher at Sumner Communications from April 1990 to September 1999.

Jay Lauf attended Connecticut College where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. Later, they pursued further education at Durham University, focusing on English, History, and Law.
