Karen James has extensive experience in the senior living industry. Karen started their career as an Office Manager/Human Resource Coordinator at Edmonton Home Services from 2001 to 2005. Karen then served as the General Manager at Wild Rose Cottage-Chartwell for a short period in 2005. Following this, Karen held the position of Director of Regional Operations, Western Canada at Chartwell Retirement Residences from 2005 to 2014. Karen later became the Vice President of Operations and Sales, Western Canada for Chartwell from 2015 to an unknown end date. Currently, they are working as the Senior Vice President Customer Experience Strategy at Chartwell Retirement Residences, a position they have held since August 2018. Karen has a proven track record of successfully managing operations, sales, and customer experience strategies within the senior living industry.

Karen James completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials Program at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management in 2022. In 1987, they attended Alberta College and earned a Licensed Practical Nurse degree, as well as a Human Resource Management Certificate. Additionally, in 2014, Karen attended McGill University to pursue an Executive Mini MBA in Executive Studies.
