Senior Software Engineer at Chatbooks

Jon Bell has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Jon started their career as a Television Production Assistant at BYU Broadcasting in 2008 and then moved on to become a Web Producer at The Book of Jer3miah. In this role, they designed and maintained the website, produced web content, and served as a consultant for various teams.

In 2009, Jon joined BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications as a Computer Support Representative where they provided technical support. Jon then transitioned to Imagine Learning in 2010, initially working as an Associate Software Engineer before being promoted to Software Engineer and eventually Senior Software Engineer. During their time at Imagine Learning, Jon contributed to various projects, including the porting of legacy frameworks, training and mentoring interns, and improving system performance.

Most recently, Jon served as a Senior Software Engineer at Chatbooks, starting in 2016. Here, they focused on improving the image processing pipeline, resulting in better quality and reduced request time and storage costs. Notably, they also migrated key systems to a more efficient platform.

Jon Bell completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Arts, with a minor in Computer Science, from Brigham Young University. Jon attended the university from 2008 until 2010. Prior to that, they earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Cabrillo College in 2008. In 2004 to 2005, they attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they studied Film.
