Matthew Ray has over a decade of professional experience in the media and publishing industries. Matthew began their career in 2003 as a Submissions Supervisor for Xlibris, where they reviewed and developed raw submissions into packageable products, managed and supervised a mid-size team of pre-production and submissions representatives, and networked with the Philippines production team to ensure timely delivery of final manuscripts to authors. In 2004, they became an Editorial Assistant for Elsevier, where they worked closely with the Global Medicine publisher to bring 42 books to market in 3 years. From 2005 to 2006, they worked as a Freelance Reporter for Dragonfire and a Freelance Writer for University City Review/Weekly Review. Matthew then became the Editor of the Philadelphia Edition of HX Magazine, where they were responsible for opening the local business office, hiring and training of the entire staff, and all startup business processes. In 2008, they took on the role of Director of Media Relations/Publicist for TLA Entertainment Group, where they developed a public relations strategy for the company and its four divisions, resulting in increased brand awareness, a stronger customer base, and greater media exposure. From 2014 to 2015, they were an Adjunct Professor at both Temple University and The University of the Arts. In 2009, they became the Chief Creative Officer and Principal, Co-Founder and Creative Director for ChatterBlast Media.

Matthew Ray began their education in 1999, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science from Temple University in 2003. During their time at Temple University, they also took a year abroad in 2001-2002 at Temple University Rome, studying Italian Language and Literature and European Studies. In 2018, they completed their Master's of Arts in Media Studies from The New School.
