Rusty Sides has over 20 years of work experience, with their most recent role being as the Director of Solutions Engineering at Checkmarx since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Checkmarx as the Sales Engineer Manager for the US Public Sector from January 2020 to January 2022. Before that, they held the position of Lead Sales Engineer and Senior Sales Engineer at Checkmarx, focusing on application security solutions for US Federal customers.

Before joining Checkmarx, Rusty worked at Oasis Systems as the Information System Security Manager, where they were responsible for implementing and maintaining information security policies within a DoD classified environment.

Rusty also has experience at IBM as a Consulting Cybersecurity Specialist, where they positioned security solutions and provided technical consultation to customers in US Federal offices.

Additionally, Rusty worked at Cigital as a Senior Software Security Consultant, providing technical leadership and services for the creation and operation of an Air Force Application Software Assurance Center of Excellence.

Prior to this, they worked at TSYS in multiple roles, including as the Associate Director in Distributed Technologies and as a Development Manager/Lead Developer, where they managed software developers and coordinated offshore teams for enterprise call center applications.

Rusty's career began at DotsConnect as a Web Developer, developing self-service applications for credit card customers. Rusty also worked as a Programmer Analyst at TSYS, where they developed automated credit evaluation systems.

Earlier in their career, Rusty served as the CEO of Digital Dimension, a subsidiary of Malone Computer Company, where they led a team in developing web sites and digital media for clients.

Rusty Sides obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Columbus State University from 1995 to 2000. In addition to their degree, Rusty has acquired certifications in Ken Blanchard on Servant Leadership from LinkedIn in December 2020 and CxCE - Checkmarx Certified Engineer from Checkmarx in June 2019.
