Sam Barfoot

Sam Barfoot has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. From 2019 to the present, they have been working at Checkmarx, starting as a Solutions Architect and progressing to Security Architect/Security Leader before their current position as Security Team Leader. Prior to Checkmarx, Sam worked at BAE Systems as a Solutions Architect from 2018 to 2019.

Before joining BAE Systems, Sam worked at Sparta Systems for four years, from 2014 to 2018. During their time there, they held the positions of Senior Delivery Consultant - Integration Specialist/Solutions Consultant and Delivery Consultant - Web Services. Sam'sresponsibilities included leading technical services within EMEA, developing new services to meet customer needs and new regulations, and delivering solutions to clients.

Sam's career began at Cantata in 2012, where they worked as a Software Developer until 2014. Prior to that, they worked at FUNdamentals as a Web Developer from 2009 to 2012, where they were responsible for managing, designing, and developing the company website and online portfolio.

Sam also gained experience in the financial industry while working at Standard Chartered Bank from 2010 to 2011. In this role, they provided technical support to the Global UK/financial markets trading floor, specifically managing various trading applications and systems.

Sam Barfoot completed their high school education from St. George's School, Harpenden, between 2001 and 2008, focusing on secondary education. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Portsmouth, graduating with honors in 2012. Additionally, Sam has obtained certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2021, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in October 2019.
