Ferdinando M. Ametrano

Ferdinando M. Ametrano is a Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer at CheckSig, a Bitcoin and crypto services provider for private and institutional investors, since 2019. Prior to this, they were the Founder and Scientific Director of Digital Gold Institute, an R&D excellence center for teaching, training, consulting, and advising about scarcity in digital domain (bitcoin and crypto-assets) and the underlying blockchain technology, from 2018. Ferdinando M. is also the Founder and Scientific Director of Crypto Asset Lab, a research initiative on crypto assets as investment opportunity, fintech innovation, and regulatory challenge, since 2019.

Ferdinando has been an Adjunct Professor at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca since 2013, Università degli Studi di Milano since 2018, and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore since 2019. Ferdinando M. was also the Cofounder, former co-administrator, and developer of QuantLib, a comprehensive software framework for quantitative finance, from 2000. Additionally, they were an Adjunct Professor at Politecnico di Milano from 2016.

From 2016 to 2019, Ferdinando was a Global Transaction Banking and Head of Blockchain and Virtual Currencies at Intesa Sanpaolo. Ferdinando M. was also a Senior Quantitative Analyst at Banca IMI, originally at Banca Caboto before Caboto-IMI merge, from 2007. In this role, they managed the development of a web-app for the LCH clearing brokerage business and led adoption of Eonia CSA-discounting and assessed its impact on forward rates.

Ferdinando M. Ametrano studied Physics at the Università degli Studi di Milano from 1988 to 1995, receiving a Laurea degree. Prior to that, they attended Liceo Classico Morelli, Vibo Valentia from 1983 to 1988.
