In the Haida language, "Cheena" translates to "Silvery Salmon," or "The Best Salmon," reflecting the company's dedication to delivering premium quality seafood, particularly smoked salmon, since 1978. Cheena prides itself on sourcing only the finest raw materials, specifically selecting salmon from the Pacific Northwest renowned for their exceptional flavor and quality.

From the ocean to the processing facility, Cheena maintains a steadfast commitment to excellence. Upon catch, the salmon is immediately frozen at sea (FAS), preserving its freshness. Skilled hands then meticulously fillet the fish, remove pin-bones, fully trim them, lightly brine, and smoke them to perfection using natural wood smoke. This rigorous process ensures that each fillet retains its peak quality and flavor.

At Cheena, authenticity and purity are paramount. There are no shortcuts—no liquid smoke, preservatives, additives, dyes, or artificial coloring agents are used in our smoked salmon products. This unwavering dedication to natural ingredients and traditional smoking techniques has earned Cheena a sterling reputation both locally and globally for producing top-tier seafood and smoked salmon.

Under the leadership of President Shawn Lytton, Cheena continues to innovate while staying true to its founding principles. As a family-owned and operated business, we remain committed to providing customers with the very best in gourmet Canadian specialty foods.

Whether you're indulging in a savory snack or preparing a gourmet meal, we invite you to experience the unparalleled taste and quality of our smoked salmon and other specialty products. From our home in the Pacific Northwest to your table, Cheena delivers excellence with every bite.
