Douwe Pentenga

Douwe Pentenga has a diverse work experience, starting in 2013 as a Bezorger (delivery person) at Sushiman. In 2014, they worked as an Ordinary Seaman at Royal Wagenborg. In 2015, they were a Verhuizer (mover) at Student Verhuis Service and later became an Apprentice at Anthony Veder. In 2016, they worked as an Onderzoeksstagiair (research intern) at Nederlands Loodswezen and as a Schipper (skipper) at W-Transport BV. That same year, they became a Young Maritime Representative at Nederland Maritiem Land, where they focused on promoting career opportunities in the maritime industry to young people. In 2017, they returned to Anthony Veder as a 3rd officer and also worked as an Apprentice at Anthony Veder Rederijzaken BV. Since 2019, Douwe has been working at Chemgas, starting as a 3rd officer and progressing to roles such as 2nd officer, Deputy Chief Officer, and currently as the Chief Officer.

Douwe Pentenga received their Havo degree from Mendelcollege in 2012. Douwe then pursued higher education at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where they obtained an HBO degree in Maritiem Officier (Stuurman) from 2013 to 2017. In terms of additional certifications, Douwe obtained various qualifications from different institutions. These include ADN Gas, Radarpatent, and EU kwalificatiecertificaat schipper / Groot vaarbewijs AB from CBR in 2023. Douwe also obtained certifications such as Company Security Officer (CSO) and Ship Security Officer (SSO) from STC Group in 2022, and additional qualifications including STCW II/2 Chief mate no limitations and STCW V/1-2.4 Tanker qualification (liquefied gas) from Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport in 2022. Douwe has also obtained certifications in medical first aid and medical first care from FMTC Safety in 2020, as well as various other certifications throughout their education and career.
