Danielle Simpson has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and academic sectors. Danielle is currently the Director of CHEOWorks and Operation Support at CHEO since February 2023. Prior to this, they worked as Teaching Faculty for the Canadian Patient Safety Officer Course at HealthCareCAN - SoinsSantéCAN starting from May 2021. From January 2022 onwards, they served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa.
Before joining CHEO, Danielle was the Director of Quality and Patient Safety at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre from April 2019 to February 2023. From November 2016 to March 2019, they worked as the Leader of Health System Improvement at the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.
In their earlier career, Danielle held multiple roles at Vancouver Coastal Health. From January 2016 to November 2016, they served as the Evaluation Lead for Regional Primary Care. Danielle also worked as Project Manager and Community Evaluator for Regional Primary Care from 2014 to 2015 and 2012 to 2014, respectively.
Danielle's work experience includes their time as an Analyst at the Champlain Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Network/University of Ottawa Heart Institute from August 2009 to July 2012. Danielle also worked as an Interventionist/Research Assistant for the University of Minnesota - New Moves Research Project from October 2007 to May 2009.
Danielle Simpson holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Minnesota and a BA/BPHE degree in History / Physical and Health Education from Queen's University. They also completed the Quality Academy at the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council in 2013-2014. In 2019-2021, they participated in the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Leadership Program - Executive Learning at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. Additionally, Danielle became a Credentialed Evaluator through the Canadian Evaluation Society in 2017.
