Fabio Variola

Fabio Variola currently serves as the Director at the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Biomedical Engineering since July 2020 and has held the position of Full Professor at the University of Ottawa since July 2010. Variola's previous roles include Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, as well as Affiliate Investigator at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario since November 2018. Additionally, Variola contributes to the scientific community as an Editorial Board Member for the International Journal of Nanomedicine and In vitro models. Variola's professional history also includes serving as a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Université de Montréal. Academically, Variola earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Université du Québec - Institut national de la recherche scientifique and holds a Master's degree in Materials Engineering from Università degli Studi di Trieste.
