Melanie Bechard

Melanie Bechard is a highly experienced Pediatric Emergency Doctor at CHEO -- Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where work has been undertaken since July 2018. Melanie has also served as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellow. Engagement in leadership roles is evident through positions on the Board of Directors for Canadian Doctors for Medicare since February 2016 and for the Canadian Medical Association from August 2017 to August 2020. As Past-President and President of the Resident Doctors of Canada from July 2015 to June 2019, Melanie also contributed as Co-Chair of the Practice Committee. Early medical training includes a residency at The Hospital for Sick Children and previous roles as a Resident Physician and Research Assistant. Melanie holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto, complemented by a Bachelor's Degree in Physiology and Psychology from Western University.
