David Lerner

David Lerner is currently the Senior Vice President of Research & Development at CHF Solutions. Prior to this, they were with Image Sensing Systems from January 2007 to December 2011, where they served as Vice President Engineering & Technology.

At Image Sensing Systems, David was responsible for directing 50+ technical personnel engaged in product development and customer technical support. This included managing product development activities with a focus on innovation and on-time delivery, creating product roadmaps, formulating R&D strategy, and managing departmental budgets. Additionally, they managed engineering for subsidiaries in the EU, China, Canada, and the US, as well as personnel engaged in the design of machine vision algorithms.

Under David's leadership, a new engineering organization was developed with a focus on key competencies. This led to the establishment of a new management team, which in turn compressed time-to-market and improved on-time delivery by 40%. Additionally, major new product non-conformances were eliminated and minor non-conformances were reduced by 60%. Lastly, R&D efficiency (revenue from new products / R&D spending) was increased by 25%.

During their time at Image Sensing Systems, David also achieved various tangible product development objectives. These include developing traffic detection sensors that improved the key figure of merit for detection by 80%, as well as developing a groundbreaking, patented hybrid technology traffic monitoring system.

Lastly, David has experience with acquisitions, having completed engineering / technology due diligence leading to successful acquisitions.

David Lerner has a Master of Science in Medical Physics and Biophysical Science from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science in Technology Management from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering from Stony Brook University. David is also certified by RABQSA in ISO 9001 / 13485 Lead Auditor for the Medical Device Industry and by NIOSH in Training and Certification in Spirometry Testing and Respiratory Disease Diagnosis.

David Lerner reports to John Erb, CEO, President & Chairman. They are on a team with Claudia Drayton - Chief Financial Officer, Nestor Jaramillo - Chief Commercial Officer, and Laurent Duhoux - Vice President of International Business Development.
