Heidi Samuelson has diverse work experience, beginning in 2012 as an Editorial Assistant and Copy Editor for The Southern Journal of Philosophy at The University of Memphis. Heidi then worked as a Communications Writer/Editor, supporting the communications team at NOAA Satellite and Information Service (NESDIS) headquarters at both ASRC Federal and I. M. Systems Group Inc. (IMSG). Their responsibilities included writing and editing fact sheets, web content, newsletters, and social media posts related to environmental satellite data. From 2015 to 2017, Heidi served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Sweet Briar College. Following this, they worked as an Environmental Compliance Documentation Specialist at Emerson Automation Solutions. In 2018, they joined HCPro as an Associate Editor before transitioning to self-employment in 2007 as a Freelance Editor. In this role, Heidi focused on developmental editing and copy editing various materials, including articles, proposals, dissertations, and monographs. Their expertise covers multiple style guides, including the Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style, APA, AMA, and GPO. Currently, Heidi is working at the Chicago History Museum as an Editor and Content Manager, where they are responsible for editing the museum's publications, managing print and digital projects, and creating content for social media and the museum's website.

Heidi Samuelson's education history begins in 2001 when they attended Purdue University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy, which they completed in 2004. In 2006, they pursued further education at Purdue University and earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Philosophy, completing this program in 2007. Heidi then enrolled at The University of Memphis in 2007 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Philosophy, which they successfully completed in 2012. Lastly, in 2017, Heidi attended The University of Chicago Graham School, where they earned a Certificate in Editing, completing their studies there in 2018.
