Mitten is the owner-operator of Chick-fil-A of Hernando County. Mitten previously owned Chick-fil-A locations at Citrus Park Town Center (1999–2003) and Merritt Square Mall (1993–1999). In 2017, Mitten served as County Commissioner (District 4) and also held the position of Chair, Board of County Commissioners (District 1). Mitten earned a BS in Finance from Florida State University College of Business (1989–1992). Mitten is described as a grateful husband and father of six.
