Peace from the kitchen

What do you do when you are new in a country, can't communicate, don't know the culture? How do you smooth the way into our society for women who suddenly find themselves living alone or with their families in Hamburg? People cook together, communicate with hands and feet, first shyly, then courageously, eat together and thus find each other.

Over time, a cooking class for refugee women became a social business: Chickpeas (chickpeas), Chicks (self-confident women) and Peace became Chickpeace in 2016. Today, the Chickpeace women from Syria, Somalia, Eritrea and Afghanistan cook and deliver catering for small and large private parties, workshops and events in the Hamburg area.
