Smita also gained valuable experience at ICPAR (Indian Centre for Public Affairs and Relations), a communication strategy firm, where they worked as an Associate Vice President from 2010 to 2013. Smita'sclients included well-known companies such as Videocon, Mi-Fone, Proline Fitness, Gini & Jony, Disha Direct, and Kaspersky Lab.
In their earlier career, Smita worked as a Senior Correspondent at CNBC TV 18 from 2006 to 2009, where they hosted and reported on feature and lifestyle shows. Smita was responsible for informing viewers about marketplace options, providing shopping tips, and simplifying market jargon. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Correspondent at ZOOM TV, a glamour and entertainment channel owned by The Times Group.

Smita Diwan completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University in 2002. Following that, from 2002 to 2004, they pursued a Postgraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism from Mass Communication, Symbiosis Institute of Pune.
