Asset And Investment Management at Chorus

Matthew Bruce has a diverse work history in the telecommunications industry. Matthew started their career in 1998 as a Project Manager for Housley Communications, where they oversaw DECT and SMAR roll-outs in South Africa. In 1999, they joined Telecom (now Spark New Zealand) as part of the Next Generation Network Team, where they developed and implemented KPI measures for outsourcing agreements.

Bruce then transitioned to Alcatel-Lucent, initially as a Network Solutions Manager responsible for developing fixed line solutions for Telecom. Matthew later became the Telecommunication and IT Platform Manager for Transpower, where they developed an Asset Management plan. During their time at Alcatel-Lucent, they also merged with Lucent Technologies and was involved in the development of lawful interception and NGN ISDN PRA solutions.

Returning to Spark New Zealand in 2013, Bruce held the role of Senior Solutions Architect, focusing on fiber asset management plans and cable age profiling.

Most recently, in 2018, Bruce joined Chorus NZ Limited as part of the Asset and Investment Management team. Here, they initiated a program to reduce their reliance on leased buildings and developed asset plans for Chorus Buildings and Power infrastructure.

Throughout their career, Matthew Bruce has demonstrated expertise in asset management, network design/planning, and solution development in the telecommunications industry.

Matthew Bruce attended Otumoetai College from 1977 to 1981 where they studied physical sciences. Following this, they went on to the University of Canterbury from 1984 to 1986 and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree with a focus on Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Afterwards, they attended Massey University from 1987 to 1996 and completed their Bachelor of Business Studies degree with a specialization in Management and International Business.
