Senior Network Design Engineer at Chorus

Stephen Versey has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Stephen started their career in 1986 at Telecom New Zealand, where they served as a Technician focusing on switching, transmission, and installation design.

In the year 2000, Stephen worked at Cabletalk New Zealand as a TBA Patch Manager for a brief period. Following this, they joined Cisco Systems as an Optical Engineer in their Advanced Services division, working from 2000 to 2008.

In 2014, they joined Online Communications as a Data Cable Installer, intending it to be a temporary role while searching for a more suitable position. Here, they gained hands-on experience in UTP and Fibre cable installation until 2017.

Since 2018, Stephen has been working at Chorus NZ Limited. Initially hired as a contractor, they served as a Senior Network Design Engineer primarily focused on Telecom Transport networks. In June 2021, this role became permanent, and they have been responsible for various tasks such as building network standards, project planning, and communication with stakeholders and vendors.

Throughout their career, Stephen's roles have encompassed a wide range of technical responsibilities and contributed to their extensive expertise in network design, installation, and engineering.

Stephen Versey attended Wainuiomata College from 1982 to 1986. Stephen did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study during their time at the college. In 2008, they enrolled at Victoria University of Wellington and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree. Their major was Maths, and they minored in Physics. In 2016, Stephen attended Weltech and completed their Bachelor of Information Technology degree in 2018, focusing on Computer Programming. Additionally, in September 2013, they obtained a CCNA certification from Cisco.
