Lead Product Designer at Chromatic

Michael Arestad has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. In 2007, they worked as a Website Designer Intern at the University of Northern Colorado Publications. From 2009 to 2010, they served as a Graphic Designer at Weise Communications and i2i Workforce, respectively. Later, from 2010 to 2012, they worked as a Graphic Designer at ProfitStreams. In 2012, they joined the State of Colorado as a Graphic Designer, where they made significant design improvements to interactive and print products. In the same year, they also became a WordPress Core Committer, volunteering their design and coding skills to aid the WordPress community. Since 2013, Michael has been working at Automattic as a Product Designer. Throughout their time at Automattic, they collaborated with a team to design and build improved WordPress experiences, including popular products serving millions of users worldwide. Michael also played a role in redesigning and rebuilding interfaces for WordPress.com, Jetpack, and Gutenberg. Currently, Michael is the Lead Product Designer at Chromatic.

Michael Arestad began their education in 2004 at the University of Northern Colorado, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design. Michael completed their studies in 2008. Following this, in 2010, Michael enrolled at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, where they pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communications Design. Michael'seducation at this institution concluded in 2011.
