Sofiane'smost recent role is as a Lead Scientist at Covisus Inc., where they have been working since December 2018. Prior to that, they held the same position at ChromoLogic LLC from 2018.

From 2010 to 2018, Sofiane worked as a Principal Applications Engineer at Oracle Corporation. In this role, they played a significant role in building the Oracle Healthcare Master Person Index (OHMPI), implementing Standards-Driven Provider Index and Integrated Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles. Sofiane also built data quality components in multiple languages for different locales, such as Spanish for Mexico, Portuguese for Brazil, Chinese for mainland China, and Japanese for Japan.

Before joining Oracle, Sofiane worked at Sun Microsystems as a Lead Software Architect and Data Modeler from 2006 to 2010. Sofiane worked on designing and refining the match engine components and played a crucial role in winning major deals with AMUE and the NHIN.

From 2001 to 2006, Sofiane worked at SeeBeyond Technology Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer and Research Scientist. In this role, they were responsible for researching, designing, and engineering state-of-the-art data quality components. Sofiane also played a significant role in reducing costs and winning major contracts, including a $28M deal with the NHS.

Sofiane's career began at Web Modulus Consulting Group in 2000, where they worked as an Application Engineer and Project Manager. Sofiane led a team in implementing a web-based ranking system using fuzzy logic concepts.

Before their industry experience, Sofiane worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the California Institute of Technology from 1998 to 2000.

Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Paris Pierre & Marie-Curie - Lab. Central des Ponts et Chausses from 1993 to 1997.
