Derek Merdzik serves as Director of Architecture Governance and Director of Practice Innovation - Architecture, Data, and Analytics at CIBC since June 2014, leading a team of eight in optimizing cloud governance and enhancing data engagement tools. Previously, Derek held positions such as Senior Manager in Enterprise Architecture & Data Management Governance and Senior Management Consultant in Agile Delivery and Technology Transformation, where significant efficiency gains were achieved through agile methodologies and infrastructure design improvements. Derek’s earlier experience at Grant Thornton as a Manager involved overseeing IT audit engagements, managing digital forensic investigations, and guiding clients in compliance procedures. Derek holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and a BComm in Information Technology Management from Ryerson University.
