Mathieu Genest

Mathieu Genest has extensive experience in public affairs and communications, currently serving as the Director of Public Affairs at CIBC since July 2025. Prior to this role, Mathieu held senior positions at Definity, including Senior Manager of External Communications and Manager of PR and Media Relations, where strategic collaboration with internal stakeholders was key to aligning communications with business objectives. Mathieu also has a background in government communications, having worked as Press Secretary for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, where responsibilities included serving as the official spokesperson and managing interactions with national and regional media. Additionally, Mathieu held the role of Manager of Business and Planning for the City of Ottawa and has provided strategic communications advice to various government ministers. Mathieu holds an Honours Bachelor of Social Science in Political Science and Government from the University of Ottawa.
