Peter Carlson is a crop modeler at CIBO. Prior to their current position, they worked as a data scientist for The Climate Corporation from February 2019 to June 2021. In this role, they lectured biweekly on environmental science topics to 200 high school students and designed lesson plans and classroom and field demonstrations. From March 2017 to August 2018, Carlson volunteered as an organizer for 314 Action. In this role, they helped organize science and policy events, including a science and policy panel discussion with city, state, and federal politicians and candidates for public office, and a climate and policy discussion featuring climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann. Carlson also led a voter registration drive. Peter received their degree in Environmental Science from The University of Texas at Austin in August 2018, where they also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant from August 2012 to August 2018. Prior to their work in environmental science, Carlson interned in engineering research and development at Welch Allyn from July 2008 to September 2011.
Peter Carlson began their educational career by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences; Integrated Science from Northwestern University. Peter then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from The University of Texas at Austin.
