Abel Tong

Abel Tong is a seasoned marketing professional currently serving as the Sr. Director of Marketing at Ciena since January 2012, where efforts focus on driving market and thought leadership for the Blue Planet network virtualization platform following Ciena's acquisition of Cyan in 2015. Prior to this role, Abel held the position of Director of Product Management at Cyan, Inc., facilitating the development of packet-optical transport solutions. Previous experience includes roles at Omnitron Systems as Vice President of Marketing, and various positions at Positron Access Solutions, Aktino, Clovis Solutions, Calix Networks, Pairgain, and Hughes Aircraft Company, showcasing a strong background in systems engineering and product management. Abel Tong holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
