Dayuan (Neil) Tan is an experienced technology professional with expertise in emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, the metaverse, and quantum computing, currently serving as the Emerging Technologies Leader at Ciena since August 2022. In addition to this role, Dayuan holds the position of President of the ACM UMBC Chapter and is a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where a Dissertation Fellowship was awarded in 2023. Dayuan has also participated in the Google Computer Science Research Mentorship Program and previously worked as a Data Scientist Intern at Broadstreet Institute, where significant improvements in data collection efficiency were achieved during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier experience includes backend engineering for the China National College Entrance Examination and database administration for major telecommunications companies in China. Dayuan is pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and holds a BS in Computer Science from Tianjin Polytechnic University.
