Marc Lyonnais

Marc Lyonnais is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in network innovation and optical networking, currently serving as the Director of External Research at Ciena since March 2010. In this role, Marc manages the budget, staffing, and objectives of the External Research group while also participating as the OFCnet chair and chairing the Bachelor of Internet Technology Advisory committee at Algonquin College. Prior to this position, Marc led the Ciena Environment for Network Innovation testbed within the CTO Office and held various roles at Nortel, where expertise included application architecture, hardware characterization, and network testing for advanced optical technologies. Marc holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Université de Sherbrooke, earned between 1992 and 1995.
