Martin Williams

Martin Williams has extensive experience in systems engineering, particularly in the fields of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) within the EMEA region. Currently serving as Director of Systems Engineering for the Blue Planet division at Ciena since March 2010, Martin oversees network integration activities, including customer demonstrations and proof of concepts. Prior roles include positions at Nortel, where Martin worked with Carrier Ethernet technology and tier 1/2 customers, as well as experience in product engineering and network solutions. Martin's career began at GEC Marconi Communications, where foundational roles in wireless engineering were undertaken. Academically, Martin holds multiple qualifications in electronic, software, mechanical, and electrical engineering from respected institutions.
