Sandy Feldman

Sandy Feldman is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in optical communication and network design. Currently serving as a Principal Engineer at Ciena Communications since December 2006, Sandy has successfully verified system models against laboratory data, designed complex customer networks, and developed optimization algorithms for the Network Design tool, achieving significant performance predictions for 40G coherent signals over long distances. Prior experience includes a role as a Principal Engineer at Broadwing/Corvis Corporation (2001-2006), where Sandy optimized core optical networks and led infrastructure planning efforts, and as an Electrical Engineer at GE Global Research (1991-2001), focusing on fiber optic communication and earning the 1998 GE Hull award for early career researchers. Sandy holds a BSE and a PhD in Optics, Electrical Engineering, and Engineering Physics from the University of Michigan.
