Simon Shearman has extensive experience in mechanical design engineering, with a career spanning over three decades in the telecommunications industry. Beginning at Mitel from June 1992 to April 1994, Simon focused on designing components for switching products and business telephony, implementing process improvements, and managing MCAD tools. Subsequently, from January 2001 to March 2010 at Nortel, responsibilities included physical platform design, providing high-level and detailed designs for telecom equipment. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, Simon contributed to a diverse range of products, including microwave radios and wireless transmitters. Currently, Simon serves as a Senior Mechanical Designer at Ciena, specializing in the architecture and development of optical systems since April 2010. Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Queen's University.
