John Schaefer

John Schaefer, CPA, MBA, and CEBS, currently serves as Vice President of Sales, Existing Business at Cigna Healthcare since May 2023. Prior to this role, John held the position of Risk & Underwriting Senior Manager at Express Scripts for one year and had an extensive tenure at Cigna from 2013 to 2022, where John progressed through various roles in risk and underwriting, including Team Lead and Senior Specialist. Earlier career experiences include financial analysis at HealthSpring and BlueCross BlueShield of SC, as well as consulting for HealthScape Advisors LLC. John began a career in auditing with McGladrey & Pullen and gained initial experience as a Finance Administration Intern at Southern Illinois Healthcare. Academic credentials include an MBA in Finance from the University of Hartford, a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation from The Wharton School, and Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Accountancy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
