CIGRE UK
Across the world over 15,000 of CIGRE’s community of power system professionals in 90 countries are taking time out from their jobs and volunteering their efforts to collaboratively share their knowledge and experiences for the greater good of the industry. This unique community is underpinned by a network of 60 local organisations referred to as National Committees. This geographic spread, combined with a network of established experts, experienced practitioners and young professionals, enables CIGRE to offer the most diverse range of power system perspectives and experiences available from any organisation. CIGRE’s professionals give their time and energy with an authentic desire to draw upon, share and build technical expertise, ensuring that the knowledge needed to meet the challenges of the power system is accessible to everyone. CIGRE UK’s national community has over 70 company members, 270 individual members, 270 young graduate engineers and university students (we call them our Next Generation Network), in all engaging regularly with over 900 UK power systems professionals, offering opportunities to learn and network through a series of local technical events, including monthly Webinars. CIGRE UK also provides a gateway to join the 250+ Working Groups participating in CIGRE’s global knowledge programmes. CIGRE UK also has its special interest groups. In addition to our dynamic NGN section (https://cigre.org.uk/ngn/about-cigre-uk-ngn/) we also focus on the challenge of attracting more diversity in our industry, specifically women in energy via our pioneering CIGRE UK Women’s Network (https://cigre.org.uk/womens-network/who-we-are/wnuk-vision-and-mission/) who run themed events and provide a unique support network for anyone who wishes to build a career in the field of power systems.
