Geoff Lay

Geoff Lay, P.Eng. is a seasoned geotechnical engineer with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at CIMA+ since February 2025, Geoff previously held a similar role at GEI Consultants, Inc., where leadership involved overseeing geotechnical services for Southwest Ontario and ensuring adherence to client objectives. At Thurber Engineering Ltd. from 2017 to 2023, Geoff managed geotechnical design and project execution for significant transportation and rail projects, overseeing budgets up to $1M and mentoring junior engineers. Experience also includes conducting origin and cause investigations at -30- Forensic Engineering and qualifying as an expert witness in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Educational qualifications include a Master of Applied Science and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Queen's University, achieved between 2005 and 2012.
