Sharon Wigal, Ph.D. is President and Director of Clinical Services for AVIDA Inc. a private, multidisciplinary clinical research center in Newport Beach, CA. At Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa, CA, she worked with children with special needs. Dr. Wigel also worked at the University of California, Irvine for 26 years as a Clinical Professor in Pediatrics and Psychiatry, and Human Behavior. Dr. Wigal won the David A. Zeaman Travel Award for research in mental retardation in 1989 and the New Investigator Award for the 1997 New Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit. She was a Principal Investigator for the long-term federally funded Preschool ADHD Treatment Study (PATS). In addition, she was the recipient of a K-23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Award from the National Institute of Mental Health. Three years ago, Dr. Wigal founded AVIDA Inc. to serve community needs related to ADHD, Autism Spectrum, and other disorders of childhood in education, training and consulting. She has published extensively on ADHD and has authored and co-authored numerous scientific articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Wigal received her doctorate in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
