Gary Jung

Gary Jung is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in high-performance computing and scientific IT. Currently serving as the ScienceIT Department Head and leading multiple groups at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory since 2003, Gary has also taken on the role of HPC Advisor at CIQ - Ctrl IQ, Inc. since May 2023 and is a Science IT Advisory Board member for Chan Zuckerberg Biohub since March 2021. Additionally, Gary holds various positions at UC Berkeley, including HPC General Manager for Berkeley Research Computing and Principal Investigator for the Cal HPCC program. Past contributions include a board member role for Bentley School from July 2012 to June 2018, where leadership included chairing the Committee on Trustees and Governance. Gary holds a BS in Computer Science from San Francisco State University and has further education from UCLA.
