Severine Thys is a Health Anthropologist currently serving at CIRAD since February 2022 and co-chair of the One Health Social Sciences Initiative with the One Health Commission since January 2020. Previous roles include a post-doctoral position at the University of Antwerp for the Global Health Institute and the Centre for the Evaluation of Vaccination from June 2020 to February 2022, as well as a PhD researcher at Universiteit Gent focusing on the perception of neglected zoonotic diseases among livestock owners in the tropics from September 2014 to September 2019. Severine Thys has also worked as an Assistant Researcher in Anthropology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, contributing to the One Health/EcoHealth Resource Center in Indonesia, and served as a consultant for the WHO during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Academic credentials include a PhD in Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety from Ghent University and MSc degrees in Public Health and Socio-Anthropology from Université catholique de Louvain and Université libre de Bruxelles, respectively.
