Li Fan

CTO at Circle

Li Fan has over 18 years of experience in the tech industry. Li started their career at Google in 2002, where they worked for eight years as a senior engineering manager. Li was responsible for managing the Ads-Spam infrastructure team and the search infrastructure areas including Page Rank, crawl diagnostics, Webster (phrase extraction) and CJK segmentation. Li also initiated and launched regional index (web search) for non-US users. In 2010, they left Google to join Baidu, Inc. as their VP of Engineering. During their four years there, they were responsible for Baidu’s Web Search and for Baidu's System Infrastructure, including distributed storage, distributed computing, system security, and cross function data processing and analysis. In 2014, they left Baidu to join Google again as their Senior Director of Engineering, responsible for image search. Two years later, they left Google for Pinterest, where they served as their SVP, Head of Engineering for two years. In 2018, they joined Lime as their CTO and Head of Engineering, a position they held for two years before joining Circle as their CTO in 2020.

Li Fan received a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Li also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from Fudan University.
