Frits Franssen

Frits Franssen is the Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Maastricht UMC+ and a Professor of Respiratory Medicine, specializing in personalized management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They served as a Senior Researcher and Pulmonologist at Ciro from 2009 to 2023 and held roles including Interim Medical Director and Professional Speaker focused on COPD and asthma. Frits completed their PhD in Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Maastricht University, where they continue to teach and conduct research.
