Steven Kaufman

Steven Kaufman currently serves as Deputy Chief Counsel for the U.S. Secret Service, a position held since June 2023. From December 2016, Steven has also acted as Chief Counsel for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, leading the legal division in various areas including cybersecurity and emergency communications. Additionally, Steven holds the title of Principal Deputy Chief Counsel at CISA, where responsibilities have included providing legal advice and counsel. Prior experience includes serving as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Protective Service since September 2010 and as the Associate Chief Counsel for the Drug Enforcement Administration from June 1996 to September 2010. Steven holds a Doctor of Law degree from American University Washington College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The George Washington University.
