Athar Butt

Athar Butt currently serves as a Senior GRC Lead at Cisco, a position held since November 2025. Prior to this role, Athar was a Senior Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) Specialist at Export Development Canada from May 2022 to November 2025, where expertise was applied in overseeing Information and Cyber Security Risk Management activities and promoting a risk management culture. Athar also worked as a Specialist in Identity & Enterprise Architecture at George Weston Limited from May 2020 to May 2022, focusing on governance and operational security within Active Directory and Microsoft O365 environments. Earlier experience includes a consulting position in Cyber Risk Advisory at Deloitte from September 2018 to May 2020, where advisory services were provided on cyber risk with an emphasis on identity management, and an IT Analyst role at the Ontario Treasury Board Secretariat in mid-2018.
