Tom Austin

VP, Governance, Risk and Controls at Cisco

Tom Austin began their career in 1989 as a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch. Tom then moved to ARCO Products, where they worked as an FP&A analyst for six months before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers in September 1993. Austin spent four years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, during which time they rose to the position of manager.

In October 1997, Austin left PricewaterhouseCoopers to join Applied Materials as vice president, segment CFO, display & EES segments. Tom remained with Applied Materials for 16 years, during which time they served in various finance-related roles, including managing director, product business group controller, and director of new business development - finance. In 2013, Austin left Applied Materials to join Cisco as VP, governance, risk and controls.

Tom Austin has an MBA in Accounting & Finance from UCLA Anderson School of Management, an MS in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Tom also has a certification from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. in Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA). Additionally, they are certified by the California Board of Accountancy as a CPA.
