Lee Hanel

Lee Hanel has over 22 years of work experience in the technology industry. Lee currently works at Cision as a Senior Staff Engineer, DevOps. Prior to that, they were a Staff Site Reliability Engineer at RetailMeNot from May 2021 to September 2022.

Before joining RetailMeNot, Lee worked at Valassis from June 2013 to May 2021 as a Sr. Development Operations Engineer. In this role, they implemented and maintained puppet for host and application configuration and deployment, implemented the graphite/Grafana stack, and maintained Kubernetes clusters.

From March 2012 to June 2013, Lee was a Development Systems Engineer at Dell, Inc, where they maintained and extended a deployment system based on puppet. Lee also served as the escalation point between the Operations team and Development, and was responsible for writing process and procedure documentation for production environments. Prior to that, they were a System Administrator at Dell from May 2007 to March 2012.

Prior to their time at Dell, Lee worked at Rackspace Managed Hosting from May 2001 to May 2007. Lee held various roles including Sr. Backup Engineer, Backup Engineer, and Linux Administrator II.

Lee's career started in the year 2000 as a Jr. Unix Administrator at Digital Convergence, where they worked until May 2001.

Lee Hanel attended Texas A&M University from 1998 to 1999, where they pursued a general field of study. Lee then went on to Texas State Technical College from 1999 to 2000, earning an Associate's degree in Computer Networking and Systems Administration.
