Star Childs has over a decade of experience in the urban design and place management industries. In 2007, they began their career as an Urban Designer at Urban Strategies, Inc., providing land use consulting services to inform government policies and drive better real estate development outcomes. This included pilot projects for the LEED ND certification program and leading stakeholder and community engagement workshops. In 2012, they moved to Christopher Counts Studio as a Designer. Finally, in 2014, they became the Co-Founder, CEO & Head of Product at Ginkgo, helping place management and economic development organizations adopt Ginkgo to measure their impact. Ginkgo's users serve local businesses and commercial property owners by keeping busy streets and public spaces clean, safe and active.
Star Childs obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Cornell University in 2007, majoring in Landscape Architecture with a concentration in natural resource management. Star then went on to earn a Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale School of the Environment in 2014, with a focus on Urban Planning and Development.
