The Motor City Metro Chorus, City Lights, was re-chartered in 2018 as a premier men’s a cappella chorus specializing in the barbershop style. The chorus prides itself on representing the pillars of brotherhood, vulnerability and dedication through the way we carry ourselves as human beings and our interactions with our community. Each member of our chorus is not only a capable singer, but are invested in the mission and ideals of the chorus as a whole to best promote the highest character. The chorus intends to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s district and international-level competitions. Outside of competition, City Lights puts on various performances throughout the year to enhance our community of singers and the lives of those that we encounter in the metro-Detroit area.

In the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international competition, the chorus has placed in the top 15 for each of their last three years, culminating in a 7th place finish in Cleveland, OH in July 2024.

The mission of the City Lights Chorus is to create the highest-level artistic product through a shared understanding of commitment to lifelong music education, enrichment of local communities and spreading the joy of a capella singing. If you want to be part of spreading the joy of four-part harmony, come sing with us! All are welcome every Monday of the year, with exceptions on major holidays and the month of July. We meet in the sanctuary of Celebration Lutheran Church in Westland, MI each Monday night from 7-10 p.m.
