Michael Folkening

Michael Folkening has a work experience spanning several companies. Michael began their career as an intern engineer at the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1993 and worked there until 1994. Michael then moved on to DLZ Corporation, where they held the position of Design Engineer from 1995 to 1999. Currently, Michael is the Director of Urban Design & Traffic at Civiltech Engineering, Inc., a role they have held since August 1999. In this position, they manage transportation planning and focuses on Complete Streets, overseeing projects such as streetscapes, structures, shared use paths, and trails.

Michael Folkening attended Valparaiso University from 1991 to 1995, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
