Souvik Mukherjee

Souvik Mukherjee has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Souvik currently serves as a Senior Data Analyst at Clari since February 2021. Prior to this, they were a Board Member at EmpactAI starting from October 2020.

From 2019 to 2021, Souvik worked at CARBO as a Project Manager, Data Scientist, and Machine Learning expert. Souvik also held the position of Product Manager, Data Science, Electromagnetic Imaging, and Machine Learning from 2017 to 2019. During their tenure at CARBO, they developed and commercialized an oilfield propped fracture visualization technology called QUANTUM, which had a substantial estimated impact of $0.5 - $1 billion in NPV per field.

Before joining CARBO, Souvik spent several years at Shell. From 2013 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Geophysicist, driving change in exploration strategy and leading to three consecutive commercial discoveries with an NPV of $1 - $10 billion. Prior to this, they served as a Geophysicist from 2008 to 2013, during which they positively impacted Shell's lease sale strategy and played a key role in geophysical projects and field operations.

Souvik's early career includes internships at EMI Schlumberger and Shell in 2006. Souvik also worked as a Technical Assistant and Field Engineer at TerraTek from 2003 to 2004, primarily involved in coal bed methane exploration. Additionally, they served as a Research Assistant at Utah Tomography and Migration (UTAM) in 2003, acquiring and processing near surface seismic data. Souvik started their career as a Research Assistant at Consortia for Electromagnetic Modeling and Inversion in 2000, where they developed 3D inversion codes for gravity gradiometry and enhanced signal methods for marine exploration targets.

In 2001, Souvik worked as a Junior Geologist at GIEM (India) Consortium.

Souvik Mukherjee earned a PhD in Geophysics from Texas A&M University, completing their studies from 2004 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Geophysics from the University of Utah, where they attended from 2000 to 2002. Before their time in the United States, Souvik pursued a M. Tech in Applied Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, graduating between 1998 and 2000.

Souvik's academic journey began with a MSc in Applied Geology from Jadavpur University, where they enrolled from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Calcutta, receiving a BSc in Geology (Honours) between 1993 and 1996.

In terms of secondary education, Souvik completed their 12th grade at Mayo College, Ajmer, focusing on science with a major in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics), from 1991 to 1993. Souvik completed their tenth grade at Apeejay School, although the specific field of study is not provided.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Souvik Mukherjee obtained a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in February 2020.
